About Us

History:

“What do we do next? How do we earn a living?” was a major concern of the girls living in a shelter home who were rescued from human trafficking. “Our hearts went out to them, and we wanted to do something!” shared Jyotika Bhatia, co-founder and Executive Trustee of Srujna.
Srujna started in 2011 as a project to provide livelihood support to rescued victims of human trafficking and the pilot project was a learning experience. Upon further research it was found that many vocational and skill training programs exist but very few focus on post training work orders and business development. Also, there were many women’s groups that made products but could not market it themselves.
To empower women to be self-sustainable, and build their abilities to generate an income, Srujna has evolved into a livelihood development organization that focuses on providing training, and platforms for market connections.
