Let’s make noise for Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Mrs. Priya Singh & Mrs. Ritika Gupta, the famous designer Shubhika Sharma, and SVP Mumbai for their philanthropic gesture.
Another round of applause for our champion Rachel and Ashok Kurien for donating 1500 N-95 masks, through their organization Livinguard, which enabled Srujna in serving needy tribals and frontline workers from rural communities of Maharashtra.
She helps because she values being helped!
Pursuing education only till 6th standard, and having lived in a rural village, she never understood the importance of education she claims. She recalls her family stating, “Bhale Kuch kamado mat, par Ghar pe Raho.” (Stay at Home even if you don’t earn anything). Things changed when she came to Mumbai with her husband. She understood the value of learning and earning, and how it plays an important role in one’s life.
With increasing responsibilities and the children going to school, she slowly started working to support her family. Today she is a supervisor at a local textile unit within the slum community where she resides in Mumbai.
Despite being impacted economically because of the pandemic, she decided to serve the neediest in her community. She collected 50 kgs of food grains and purchased INR 30,000/- worth of onions and potatoes for distribution in her community. She along with the group of women from the textile unit worked relentlessly to stitch 29000 masks within one month for distribution to those who can not afford to purchase masks. Looking at the spirit, Srujna supported her and her community with masks, and ration during these tough times.
Srujna salutes her will of uplifting the entire community and wishes more power to her.
