When a woman determines to fly, the sky is the never be a limit!’
Pratibha Berde, a thirty-five year old married woman resides in the slum community of Sion, Mumbai.
Being a graduate she worked at a playschool with a marginal income then she started making pottery products for earning. Later, as the number of family members increased, she realized that it was not easy for her to manage a family’s expenses with a limited income.
She left her job and started her own enterprise with limited savings in 2013 of making pottery products along with jewellery, and fabric products. And now has a group of ten women from her community working with her.
Srujna collaborated with her during the pandemic to build her group’s capacities and provide income opportunities. Pratibha recalls ‘during the pandemic no one supported us. We felt lost and did not have hope. Thanks to Srujna for giving us continuous mask orders during and post lockdown. It has helped us survive’. She proudly quotes ‘When a woman determines to fly, the sky is the never be a limit!’
